Current Home Renovation Savings attic routes
Home Renovation Savings publishes an attic route without a home energy assessment and a separate route involving assessments and multiple qualifying upgrades. The listed attic amounts differ between them.

Route without a home energy assessment
The standalone attic offer requires a participating contractor and insulation of the full roof-assembly area. Dwelling type, ownership, heating arrangements, previous participation and whether work has already started can affect eligibility. The official page includes exclusions such as stacked townhomes and homes first occupied within the preceding six months.
Confirm eligibility and the contractor’s participation before booking the upgrade. If the home contains a mixture of open attic, cathedral ceiling and flat-roof areas, ask how the program treats the complete roof assembly. Do not assume an ordinary attic calculation covers every roof type. Check the official standalone offer.
COMPARE YOUR OPTIONS
Route with a home energy assessment
This route starts with an initial assessment before the work and requires at least two eligible upgrades, followed by a final assessment. The current program also lists a $600 assessment rebate and a $500 bonus for completing three or more eligible upgrades, subject to its conditions.
The attic amount is only one part of that route. Confirm the eligible measures, assessment sequence, documentation and reimbursement terms with the program and registered energy advisor. Review the official assessment route.

Questions to settle before choosing a route
The most useful first conversation is about eligibility and timing, not the largest advertised number. Ask the program or the relevant participating provider:
- Which current route applies to this property and its planned work?
- What must happen before a deposit, contract or installation?
- Who needs to perform the assessment or installation?
- How will the existing condition and completed work be documented?
- Which deadlines apply to the application, work and final paperwork?
- Who submits each document and confirms that it has been received?
- How does previous assistance affect the proposed claim?
- What is paid upfront, and when would an approved rebate be issued?
Keep the answers with the quotation. If the proposed scope changes, reconfirm the route rather than assuming the earlier answer covers the revised work.

Keep the installation specification separate from eligibility
The attic insulation page explains installation scope, while the R-value guide explains performance terminology. Neither replaces a program decision about the property, participant or completed measure.
A quote should still identify the material, area, preparation and intended installed level even when an incentive is being discussed. Ask whether air sealing, baffles, hatch treatment and any removal are included. A rebate headline cannot tell you whether two contractors have quoted the same work.
Similarly, an attic inspection for a contractor’s quotation is not automatically the formal assessment required by an incentive route. Confirm the service you are booking and the documentation it produces.

Do not add amounts from different routes for the same upgrade without explicit confirmation that the combination is allowed. A broader insulation-program maximum should not be presented as the amount available for an attic alone.

Mississauga homeowners: use the official offer for the property
A Mississauga address does not by itself establish eligibility. The property, ownership, heating setup, work and current program conditions must be considered together. For attached housing or a condominium arrangement, also clarify who can authorize the work and provide the required records.

Does this website approve my rebate?

Check the route first. Some steps must occur before installation, and later paperwork may not correct a missed requirement.
Is the highest advertised amount available to every attic?
No. Maximums depend on the route and its conditions. The existing insulation and the eligible completed work also matter.
Can the same upgrade receive both attic amounts shown above?
Do not assume so. The table compares routes; it does not present amounts to add together. Confirm any combination directly with the program.
Are these R-values a statement of Ontario building-code requirements?
No. They describe the cited rebate offer. Applicable code requirements depend on the project and assembly and must be checked separately.
